FAQ
E.KO IONISER®

The lid colours refer to the application of the E.KO IONISER®. The E.KO IONISER® with the lid colours yellow and grey are used in the EDM sector.
Yellow for standard applications, aluminium, copper, titanium, polycrystalline diamonds (PCD)
Grey for hard metal, copper, graphite, titanium, cobalt materials, sintered metal materials, powder metallurgical steels

The E.KO IONISER® with white lid is used in surface technology, power plants, the food industry, medical technology.

The E.KO IONISER® is supplied with a preservative. Before use, this preservative should be flushed out by the flushing process.

For the flushing process, you need an LT or CPC coupling ½" and an LT or CPC plug ½". Both LT connectors can be found in your CONNECT4 connection kit.

Connect the coupling and the plug to the connections of your E.KO IONISER®.
Now connect the input of the E.KO IONISER® to the tap of your water pipe and direct the output line into the sewage system or a washbasin. Always ensure that the connection is made in the correct direction!

Flush the E.KO IONISER® for 3-5 minutes (water temperature max. 25°C). After flushing, turn off the water inlet.
The system must no longer be under pressure when disconnected!!! By doing so, you will damage the E.KO IONISER®!!!

Remove the two connectors (coupling and plug) again and connect the E.KO IONISER® to the original hoses of your EDM machine.

The E.KO IONISER® is now fully operational.

The max. operating pressure of the E.KO IONISER® is 5 bar.
The unit will be destroyed in case of overpressure!

To keep the start-up phase as short as possible, the E.KO IONISER® is filled with deionised water. Once the E.KO IONISER® has been connected to your machine, the E.KO IONISER® will reach its maximum deionisation capacity within 20 minutes, depending on your machine type.

Depending on whether you are using an E.KO IONISER® 1501 or 1502/1503, the CPC quick couplings (coupling and plug) for inlet and outlet are positioned laterally reversed.
On the lid, you will always find the marking for the entrance and exit. The CPC plug is always the input, the CPC coupling is always the output.

The quick couplings engage with a click, and can be separated again with the integrated dark grey release button.

After the flushing process has been completed, you can either connect the E.KO IONISER® to the KORROSTOP4.0® and then to your machine or connect it directly to your machine.

You will find all the necessary connectors for the flushing process and the connection in the CONNECT4 connection kit case.

Please always disconnect the CPC connections on the E.KO IONISER® without pressure!
If the system remains under pressure when disconnecting, the E.KO IONISER® will be damaged!

With the CONNECT4 connection kit, you can connect the E.KO IONISER® to any EDM machine (manufacturer independent). Thanks to the step nozzle and the two different hose clamps, the connection kit is compatible with all EDM machines on the market.

The CONNECT4 connection kit is available from your E.KO IONISER® dealer.

The system corresponds to a capacity of 200 litres of mixed bed resin. This performance was measured with new (non-regenerated) mixed bed resin, in a 20 litre pressure bottle (resin cartridge).

If you are also using a KORROSTOP4.0® on your E.KO IONISER®, you can easily read off the capacity of the E.KO IONISER® using the Korrostop display.

If you do not have KORROSTOP4.0®, it will be necessary to replace it as soon as the duration of the deionisation noticeably increases.

For hygienic reasons, however, the E.KO IONISER® should not be used for longer than 12 months to counteract possible contamination.

Please order the next E.KO IONISER® from your dealer in good time.

The following storage conditions must be observed:

- maximum storage time 6 months
- Storage temperature 5 - 35°C
- protect from frost and direct sunlight
- do not store lying down
- do not store standing on the lid
- do not expose to extreme temperature fluctuations
- do not stack

In the event of temperature fluctuations and high humidity, condensation can escape (there are small holes/openings at the bottom corners).
If it has nevertheless happened that the E.KO IONISER® has frozen, allow it to defrost completely slowly at room temperature and check whether its function is still intact.

There is no water loss in your wire EDM machine during the exchange.
Leave the water in the E.KO IONISER® in the unit. The system is always delivered from the factory already filled with deionised water. This means that it is not necessary to empty the water remaining in the E.KO IONISER®.

For return transport to your dealer, please use the original packaging included with the delivery. The E.KO IONISER® must be returned on the supplied EUROPALETTE - strapped or lashed down - and with the connections facing upwards.
Please never return the E.KO IONISER® lying down or with the connections facing downwards, as this will cause transport damage!Always use the packaging - clearly visible - for your documents (delivery note, transport papers) and not the plastic housing of the unit.Contact your dealer. Your dealer will organise the exchange to a new E.KO IONISER® and the collection of the used unit.

If you do not have a dealer, you can use the "Return" button on our website to send us information for collection. One of our partner dealers will carry out the collection from you.

The E.KO IONISER® has quite a long service life, and can be compared to the capacity of 200 litres of mixed bed resin. However, the service life is basically dependent on several factors.

- Fresh water refill quantity (e.g. evaporation in summer)
- Filter type - condition and filter size (fineness of the filter in μm)
- set conductivity in the working tank
- machined materials (carbide and copper)
- Condition of the process water in the wire eroding machine

Chemicals such as preservative additives against rust, oil, cleaning agents and similar contaminants in your process water considerably reduce the service life of the E.KO IONISER®!

With a reverse osmosis system (EASYRO®) for refilling, you can significantly increase the service life. Reverse osmosis already reduces the conductivity by 95-99% in advance and removes almost all disturbing parameters, including organic material.

Contact your dealer and submit a damage report. Your dealer will complete the damage report with you and forward it to us.
If this is a complaint, your retailer will arrange for a credit note to be issued.
